It’s interesting how developments come together in South Florida. Usually, one construction company drives success from end to end. However, on occasion, two dive in as a partnership. Either way, it generally takes four years to complete.

Conversely, homes for sale in Egret Landing deviated from the expected route, involving DiVosta, Pulte Homes, Engle Homes, and many other custom single family home builders in the program, resulting in a spectacular 248-acre ungated real estate footprint of 649 single family homes located on the south side of Indian Creek Parkway. The latter ranged from 1,750 square feet to 4,200 air conditioned square feet (UA), starting in 1994, when Egret Landing construction began and 85% of the homes emerged, with the balance after 2,000 (i.e., over approximately ten years).

With so many custom home builders in the mix, one would expect architectural variance, but surprisingly coastal Mediterranean in the Addison Mizner style predominates, underlining a central theme. Another thing that stands out is the multiple arteries off ring roads that created 58 cul-de-sacs and a feeling of neighborliness where kids can play safely in the streets outside their homes. 

Developer handovers were high-end at the time, although we should remember that it was after 2006 that a massive improvement in building materials created a new generation of residential structures. Still, a few original owners have upgraded, springboarding off the original walk-in closets and gourmet kitchens containing granite countertops, crown molding, and wood, marble, or ceramic flooring.
