5 Active Listings in Old Floresta

Each single family home is unique in its traditional or modern architecture, influenced by Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial styles. Original Old Floresta homes date back, not in years, but decades, although remodeled (possibly many times) since architect Addison Mizner initiated the development in 1925. So, twelve home models made to look different with variable exterior facades are not something you'll ever find in Old Floresta homes. We can safely confirm that no two single-family homes are alike. Still, they do have similarities, providing unmatched character for all of them in combination:
- Unsurpassed construction quality
- Eye-catching plastered adobes and red clay barrel-tile roofs.
- Haciendas with quaint wrought iron balconies and verandas.
- Arched walkways in and out of the home.
- Manicured lawns set off against detailed master-crafted masonry.
- In many cases, double-height ceilings and the original natural wood floors.
- Rough-finished stucco.
A notable trend is that the area is under substantial redevelopment. Custom builders and well-heeled buyers are zoning in on old houses, knocking them down, then building sleek, avant-garde modern Boca Raton luxury homes. In other cases, complex renovations have impacted original residences without losing the traditional exterior. Many of the latter contain contemporary chef's kitchens with large islands, stainless steel cabinet-depth refrigerators, dual ovens, and commercial-grade cooktops. These converge on brand names such as Bosch, Wolf, and Sub-Zero.
Some community residences, typically with floor plans of 5000 sq. ft and more, accommodate traditional dining rooms adjacent but distinct from the kitchen and added breakfast nooks - an entertainer's dream setup. Expect to find multiple bedrooms and bathrooms with ensuite layouts, all modernized with exotic and the latest synthetic materials. They can accommodate large families and still have room for staying guests. Outdoor kitchens under customized patios stand adjacent to private pools and spas in the backyard.
Conversely, as mentioned above, the smaller houses under 2000 sq. ft. are prime targets for regeneration (see below for more on this). As a result, the price of Old Floresta real estate ranges between $600 per sq. ft. under air (UA) for a knock-down to over $1000 for a move-in finished modern construction. In summary, we believe it ranks as the most valuable acreage in the city (other than, perhaps, on the Atlantic ocean and intracoastal waterway).
Another extraordinary feature of Old Floresta is its self-proficiency. Why? Because It offers its residents the tranquility and privacy parallel to the most palatial neighborhoods of Long Island or LA. Indeed, it's for families who don't need the resort-like amenities offered by a country club like Broken Sound or Addison Reserve. Instead, it's more akin to the open spaces of the ungated equestrian community, Horseshoe Acres with five acre lots. Old Floresta invites residents to bike, walk, and jog on its safe streets.
You can buy from a selection of Old Floresta homes (i.e., anywhere from under 2000 sq. ft. to 8000 sq. ft (UA) in size). When you do, you're purchasing a piece of yesteryear - indelible Boca Raton history. Did you know that many famous people were and still are living in this iconic community? For example, Thomas Fleming. The founder of Florida Atlantic University. Also, abutting the historic neighborhood of Old Floresta is small neighborhood known as Tunison Palms. The main distincition is that the Tunison Palms enclave is not included in the historic designation.

Finally, homeowners can access nearby parks and places of interest like Boca Raton Children's Museum, Morakami Japanese Gardens, and the Wakodahatchee Wetlands - an immersive, "back to nature" experience. Lastly, the Boca Raton Museum Of Art is located within the Old Floresta community.
